CTS Is Currently Closed

Christ the Shepherd, like virtually all congregations of any religion in California, is officially closed until at least April 19th. There will be no Sunday services or meetings of any kind by the church or community groups that use our campus. The church office is closed.

However, you can still reach the church via telephone (626-794-7011) and leave a message, or e-mail us at office@ctsaltadena.org. Both phone messages and e-mail are being remotely monitored daily.

Since people can’t come to church services, we are preparing to bring church services to people. For example, check out the piano accompaniment for the hymns we would have sung today, recorded by our musician, Brian Havey (click here). Pr. Witte is planning to produce an audio blog of his sermon for March 29th, and we are working to gather the Prayers for Intercession that we normally make before the Offering. Stay tuned for more details!

Focus Meetings

On the morning of the first Sunday of every month, members of the church and community gather for stimulating conversation focusing on a selected topic.

On Sunday, March 6, the topic will be “Homelessness: What Does It Really Mean?” with guest speaker Dorothy Edwards. Dorothy experienced being without shelter and is now employed and a counselor. All are welcome to join us for what is certain to be a thought-provoking discussion.

We will meet at 8:45 am in the St. John’s Room before the service.

Our Monthly Newsletter

The Shepherd’s Voice provides a window into the recent, current, and upcoming activities at Christ the Shepherd.  A typical issue includes an article by our Pastor, news and notes, one or more articles from sources inside or outside the church, a calendar of meetings and events for the month, and a list of people serving at our Holy Eucharist on each Sunday.  The Shepherd’s Voice is normally distributed in PDF format via Email, although print copies are available at CTS and for those who have no Internet access.

Listen to my letter to Pastor Dan Hooper of Hollywood Lutheran Church about our recent work with the Pasadena/Altadena Reintegration Council “PACT” meetings and my interest in learning from him and Hollywood Lutheran members who work with incarcerated persons.
